Nolan McCarty is Susan Dod Brown Professor of Politics and Public Affairs and Chair of the Department of Politics at Princeton University. His areas of interest include U.S. politics, democratic political institutions, and political methodology. He is the recipient of the Robert Eckles Swain National Fellowship from the Hoover Institution and the John M. Olin Fellowship in Political Economy. McCarty is the author of numerous scholarly articles which have appeared in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, and the Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization. Previous books authored or coauthored are Political Game Theory (Cambridge University Press, 2006) and Polarized America: The Dance of Ideology and Unequal Riches (MIT Press, 2006). He is a co-founder of the Quarterly Journal of Political Science, a journal that focuses on innovative research in analytical political science. McCarty is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
